About Mira and her care
Looking for an acupuncturist in Melbourne? Who is Mira An?
Mira An is an AHPRA-registered Doctor of Chinese Medicine, acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in Melbourne, with over 15 years of clinical experience. Born in Seoul, she trained in clinical nutrition at Yonsei University and in human biology and Chinese medicine at RMIT University, with a clinical internship at Kyung Hee University Hospital in Seoul. She has supervised students at the RMIT Health Science Teaching Clinic since 2012 and is a PhD candidate researching body constitution diagnostics.

Is there an acupuncturist in Melbourne for fertility and IVF support?
Yes. Preconception care and IVF support are among Mira's special interests, and she has worked as an acupuncturist at Melbourne IVF's acupuncture support clinic and at Fertility Pod, which collaborates with Monash IVF.
Care combines acupuncture, herbal medicine and diet and lifestyle advice, planned around your cycle and, if you are doing IVF, around your clinic's timeline. Herbal medicine is paused during IVF stimulation and transfer unless your fertility clinic agrees. With your consent, Mira can write to your fertility specialist so your care is coordinated. Postnatal care is offered too.
Can you recommend a Korean-speaking acupuncturist in Melbourne?
Mira consults in both Korean and English (한국어 진료 가능). Patients can describe their symptoms in the language they are most comfortable with, and written advice can be given in either language.

Where can I find an acupuncturist for menopause symptoms in Melbourne?
Mira supports people through perimenopause and menopause, including hot flushes, sleep changes and mood, with acupuncture and herbal medicine. Some clinical studies suggest acupuncture may reduce hot flushes for some people. Mira will discuss what to expect for your situation, and works alongside your GP if you are using hormone therapy.
Who offers acupuncture for cancer patients in Melbourne?
Mira provides acupuncture for people during and after cancer treatment, as a complement to the care of their oncology team, never as a replacement. Research suggests acupuncture may help with some treatment-related symptoms, such as nausea, fatigue and joint pain, for some patients. Please let Mira know your treatment plan and current medicines so care can be planned safely.
Is there an acupuncturist in Melbourne for pregnancy care?
Yes. Acupuncture from a registered practitioner is generally considered safe in pregnancy, and some points are avoided. Mira sees patients through pregnancy, including high-risk pregnancy, labour preparation and postpartum care. Herbal medicine in pregnancy is prescribed only with extra care, and always tell your midwife or obstetrician about any treatment you are having.
Can you recommend a Chinese herbalist in Melbourne for eczema or acne?
Skin conditions, including acne, are one of Mira's special interests. Treatment usually combines a herbal prescription tailored to you with diet and lifestyle advice, and sometimes acupuncture. Mira also offers scar repair treatment and an.dan.Te (安態端) cosmetic acupuncture. Skin changes take time, so Mira will explain how often to come in and how progress will be reviewed.
Who practises constitutional medicine in Melbourne?
Mira practises constitutional medicine (體質醫學), which looks at your inborn type as well as your symptoms. She works with Five Element constitution, the focus of her PhD research. Your constitution is assessed from your body, temperament, digestion, sleep and how you respond to heat and cold, and it guides your acupuncture, herbs and constitutional nutrition advice.
Where can I find a Five Element acupuncturist in Melbourne?
Mira practises Classical Five Element acupuncture and Korean Saam acupuncture in Hawthorn. Five Element acupuncture sees each person through the elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, and treats the element most out of balance, body and mind together. Saam acupuncture is a Korean method that uses five-element points on the arms and legs to strengthen or calm the related organ system.
